First the children write their portion of the story onto A3 paper. They know who to write on their page because of who they say good morning to in our rolling roll.
Next the children use collage paper that we created earlier in the year by painting and texturising the painted paper. They cut out shapes to use for their pictures. They don't draw the shapes first, they just cut and create. They make a picture of themselves and something else of their choice. Once the paste dries they can add a few details using a felt tip pen.
When everyone is done, we practise reading our stories a few times as a class. Then we look for an audience wherever we can find one! This year we read our story to our buddy class and to the Kea team assembly. Two of our buddies used ipads to record us reading our story, so you have two viewpoints to view it from.
The finished book is kept in our classroom in a clearfile and the children love to read it during the day.
Mrs Nichol will also copy the book as a pdf and email it to the parents so that the children have their very own copy.
This picture is of us sharing our story to the Kea team assembly.
Enjoy the movies! We'd love to read your comments about our book. :D
