100th Day of School

We've made it to the 100th Day of School!  It's been a fantastic 100 days and the whole Kea team celebrated together today.  We did many activities to celebrate 100th day.  In the afternoon we had a parade into the hall where we shared with our parents and each other something we did for 100th day.  After everyone had shared, we walked through all of the Year One classrooms to see what everyone else had done.  To see all the pictures from our day go to the google photo album >>HERE<<

 

This week Mrs Nichol's sister-in-law from Canada came to visit our class. She teaches Year Two in Canada.  We had fun getting to know her and she helped us with some of our 100th day activities.  Here we are gluing 5 eyes into each of the 20 circles on our monster. 

We wrote stories about what we think we will be like when we are 100 years old.

Mrs Maingay also helped with our 100th day activities.  Here she is helping glue the 'bling' onto our crowns.

We had fun thinking about what we would like 100 of and what we would not want 100 of.  

We used a 100s frame and then we wrote our first name over and over in the squares.  When we were done we chose colours for each letter and then coloured our pattern.  Each person's 100s frame looked so unique!

We made a big poster full of 100 addition sums.  Each maths group had a different way to come up with their facts.

We sorted 100 pennies into 10 groups of 10.

We had one very quiet 100th day activity!  We had to see how many times we could write our name in 100 seconds.  Before we wrote, we made predictions of how many times we would be able to write our names.  

We loved making our 100 structure.  First we had to get 100 marshmallows and 100 toothpicks for our group.  Then we each got to build our own structure with our 10 marshmallows and 10 toothpicks.  When we were finished we had to join our creation with those of our group.  We were very happy with our cool creations and our great teamwork!
