Canada Day

Tuesday was Canada Day and since Mrs Nichol is from Canada we got to celebrate!  First we watched some movies and songs on Youtube about Canada.  You can view the playlist >>HERE<<.

We looked at Canadian money and we each got to take home a penny.  Did you know that Canadian pennies are no longer being made so the penny we each got is very special!

We looked at a map of Canada and a map of  the world so we could compare the size of Canada and New Zealand, and also so we could see how far apart they are.  We also saw where Mrs Nichol is from. We coloured in our own little map of Canada and coloured red the two provinces where Mrs Nichol has lived - Alberta and British Columbia.

We also got to make our own Canadian flags.  We painted two stripes of red and then we painted our hands red and pressed it in the middle of our paper to look like the maple leaf.

Happy Canada Day!
Go to the Movie tab on Mrs Nichol's Google site to watch a short or long version of a movie of us celebrating Canada Day.
