Mangemangeroa walk poetry

Our poem this week was Mangemangeroa Walk written by Mrs Nichol in 2012.  We learnt that even our teachers write, and that one of the reasons we are learning to write is to write for an audience.  Mrs Nichol really liked how we illustrated our poems this week!  We are becoming very good artists!

Mangemangeroa Walk
By Cheryl Nichol

We’re going for a walk
on a sunny March day.
We don’t have a map
but our teachers know the way.

We’ll leave Cockle Bay School
with our packs on our backs,
carrying food and water
for when we need snacks.

Our parents will join us,
we’ll walk with a friend.
We’ll see so many cool things,
we won’t want the day to end.

We’ll walk past a barn and
 the cows we will see.
We’ll walk over a stile
down a hill so steep.

Through the wetlands and
along the boardwalk we’ll go.
We’ll look for the mangroves
and the plants that we know.

At the end of the day
when our adventure is done,
we’ll have many great stories
to share with…everyone!
