This week the children did a fantastic job rewriting their favourite fairy tale. Anna and James shared their wonderful stories with the class today. We talked about using speech in our stories and how to add speech marks. We also talked about how important it is to fill up every line all the way. Often the children are so excited to write long stories that they only write two or three words on a line. We also talked about using interesting words to make the story exciting for your reader. It is wonderful to see the children's passion for writing develop and I love when they bring in stories they've written at home to share with me and the class.
We learnt a new game today to practise our Essential List spelling words. We each had a chart with 6 different words that we need to know how to spell in our writing. We rolled a dice and whatever number we rolled was the word we had to write. We played with a partner to see who could fill up a column first. Mrs Nichol asked us how to spell some of the words later and we were able to remember them. Our lists are in our Literacy books so you can ask us how to spell these words when we are at home.
Jenna and Shivali are working hard at learning their letter names and sounds and their sight words. We have made up a fun game to play together to practise.
Today in Maths we learnt a new game using two dice. We rolled the dice and then wrote the numbers onto a grid. Then we had to add them and write the answer. Some of us even tried it using three dice!
